Carly Carn was born in 1989. She began her career as a professional artist in 2017. Carly lived in Kamas, UT, for thirty years before moving to Tennessee, where she decided to commit to pursuing life as a full-time artist. In discovering her passion for painting, Carly also found a vehicle to express her individuality.
Carly's work is primarily representational and strives to achieve Biblically accurate paintings that put the viewer in touch with their creator. She also works on various landscapes and wildlife. She is a self-taught artist, enjoys exploring new techniques for applying paint to canvas. Her favorite techniques involve intentional texture, transparent glazing to achieve depth and wet on wet pushing and pulling with thick brushes to create whimsical fog.
Carly's greatest inspiration is the Lord. She believes that he is the original artist, and we are all merely mirror artists of him. In painting His creations, she feels that it is a reflection of her relationship with the Creator.
While she has come a long way, she recognizes that a true creative journey does not have a final destination. She likens painting to reading a good book because it can take you somewhere else. As Carly says, “In the pursuit of being an artist as a form of worship, I feel whole.” Carly now resides with her husband and children in Lebanon, TN, just east of Nashville.
